This Udemy course on "How I Make $2000 a Month With No Filming" has been removed from Udemy.  I wonder if it is elsewhere?  It looks like folks at YouTube are simply using this title as clickbait.

With e-Commerce sites, videos perform well for the following reasons:
1.  Videos rank well on Google.
2.  People are happy to share videos.
3.  Videos are more fun.
A recent study conducted by the Aberdeen Group confirms that video marketing has a direct and immediate reach on your marketing costs. Companies using video spend less time and money generating leads.  They spend only $93 per lead as opposed to their competitors that don't use video who spend $115 per lead.  That means that for every 100 leads, you are saving $2200.

VAT19 is a company that continuously comes up with hundreds of unusual products, and decided that interesting, funny and sometimes weird videos were the best way to capture their audience.  They were right.  Through videos, they were able to successfully rack up 130,000 subscribers on YouTube.  In fact, a lot of products they sell are also sold by other online retailers, but their witty videos are the reason they are able to carve out a huge market for themselves.

This video maker does so well that he was able to sell his videos to Mercedes Benz.  Not bad.

Here is his video he made for Mercedes.

And here you will see the coordinated efforts of the film maker and his team to bring the video to publication.  Not easy given the weather, political, and technical conditions on the streets of New York.  Thanks to John Cooksey on 1/28/2016 at Bill Myers' site.

2)  Unboxing videos on YouTube is all the rage!  And it's lucrative!  That's the goal.

3)  Oh, and there's Grumpy Cat.  I had only remotely heard of this cat.  Did not know that it is a friggin' YouTube star that makes more money than any movie star or more than the highest paid sports star.  Bill Myers observes:

"Yes, cats can earn money. Especially if they have a unique look.

According to Business Insider, the world famous Grumpy Cat Has Earned Her Owner Nearly $100 Million!

Most of those earnings have come from ad views, product endorsements, and Movie and TV Appearances.

Grumpy's earnings have dwarfed those of many of Hollywood's biggest names like Gwyneth Paltrow who, according to Forbes magazine, earned just over $18.6 million last year.

The cat is also outstripping the world’s top footballers including Christiano Ronaldo, whose total remuneration this year is estimated at $42.2 million.

Grumpy Cat has 521,000 followers on Instagram and 255,000 on Twitter."

MARKETING FOR SMALL BUSINESSES
1.  Must have YouTube Videos.
Google owns YouTube.  So any YouTube you create will boost the SEO of both your website and your YouTube channel.
2.  Email Marketing.

******************************************************************************
TYPES OF VIDEOS EVERY BUSINESS SHOULD PRODUCE
1.  Promotional Videos.  Videos that promote your business, yourself, a product--new or old, an event.  These videos can be used as your trailer video.  Always end with a call to action--subscribe, like, visit website, ask a question, leave a comment, call 1-800-123-4567.  Have a link in the description and tell the viewer to click it to get 10, 20, or 30% off on their next video production.
2.  Testimonial from customers.  Use videos as proof of your great service or product.  Don't hire an actor.  Get a real testimonial.
3.  How-to Videos.  Be very specific, step-by-step.
4.  Review your own product.  Review your product against your competitor's product.  Comparison videos.
5.  Employee profiles.
6.  Video tour of your store, facility, bakery, kitchen.
7.  Video on what sets your company apart from its competitors.
8.  Video on how your company, product, service helps its clients.
9.  Video promoting an event.
10.Video of the event.
11.Behind the doors video on the process of pizza making or sofa assembly.

If you watched the above video you saw that it uses a popular song (Happy by Pharrell Williams), and shows people enjoying some of the interesting places in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

So you're wondering, why would a local business pay for that kind of video?
Well, in just the first few days after the video being posted, it has gotten over 3,100 views - mostly by the Hot Springs home town audience. Those 3,000+ views represent 10% of the total population of Hot Springs.

And that's exactly what John told the video sponsor would happen. The locals would watch, and leave with a good impression of the sponsor - the dentist.
I asked John some questions about making the video, and here's what he told me:

Q. How can you use a copyrighting song without it being taken down?.
A. YouTube allows certain songs to be used if the artist grants permission in return for some payment from YouTube and an occasional ad that pops up. You get none of the money though. Happy is one of those songs.

Q. How did you get such high quality video?
A. I shot with a Canon 5D DSLR and used Rokinon high end lenses. Also we saturate most scenes a bit in Sony Vegas.

Q. How did you get the smooth motion throughout the video?
A. I used a $300 steadicam attached to the Canon DSLR and a wide angle lens. I shot in 24p for more of a film look.

Q. How did you get so many hits so fast on You tube?
A. I convinced the client that it would be better to feature lots of people throughout the whole town, not just his staff and patients. That way people who appear in the video would share the video on Facebook and their social networks.

Q. Did you edit it yourself?
A. No, I don't like being hunched over a computer for a long time, it hurts my back. So I trained a gal about 6 weeks ago on editing and pay her $12 per hour.  This was her first full edit job. I called the shots and changes but she did the bulk of the editing.

Q. How much did you charge to produce the video?
A. In total it came out to about $2500 for 6 location shoots and the editing.
I find the medical community had no problem in this price range. Plus this kind of video is great advertising for my services and what I can do.

YOUTUBE PRODUCT REVIEWS
The best way to get started doing product reviews is to review the products you already own. Cameras, camera accessories, microphones, headsets, cell phones, phone accessories, tablets, computers, hobby equipment, web cams, dash cams - whatever you have.

Set up a camera so it is focused on the product, attach a microphone so you get good audio, write a list of things you want to cover in the review, and start recording.

You don't have to appear in the video as people are interested in hearing a review of the product, and not seeing you.

An easy way to set up your camera to record review videos

********************************************************************
BE THE YOUTUBE EXPERT IN THE ROOM
First, I assume you have YouTube videos promoting your own business. (I wouldn't trust a marketer who didn't use his own methods any more than I'd trust a butcher who didn't eat his own roast.) I'd like to look at those if you could provide a link to your channel.

Second, it's probably wrong to hit people to make a commitment with a subscription service when you don't have an established reputation, a recognized name, etc. You need to figure out a relatively inexpensive one-time service that you can offer for openers.

Third, most people now grew up in a movie/TV/video world. You really don't need to bore them with a long laundry list of benefits. Even ONE thing that the video would do for the business, articulated well, would be much better than a catalog of vague overused marketing cliches.

Fourth, be the expert in the room. Have you studied the demonstrable impact of YouTube video on businesses (meaning, real businesses), if any? What is the actual experience basis for any claims you might make? What reliable facts could you call up with regard to the effectiveness of video during a presentation? What kinds of videos work? What kinds don't? Etc. Studies have shown that it isn't the canned pitch that makes the sale - it's how knowledgeable the salesperson proves to be about the subject matter itself. Could you talk intelligently about the subject of video marketing for, say, 30 minutes? Being the expert in the room has far-reaching consequences for sales.

Fifth, don't oversell. Better for your client to receive more than they expected than for them to be disappointed by less.

Having video on YouTube is likely to improve your page rank on Google, and gives you a thumbnail in the results as well, which increases visibility, so I'd be looking for information of that sort.

Google thumbnail.  A YouTube channel & videos will produce a thumbnail in Google search results.  That's good.

Look for numbers that pertain more to a local business. For instance, having video on YouTube is likely to improve your page rank on Google, and gives you a thumbnail in the results as well, which increases visibility, so I'd be looking for information of that sort which would be more relevant to the question you pose. I'd also be impressed if the salesperson could tell me that the videos that get the most views are only 31 to 120 seconds in length, etc. and the highest-converting videos are low-budget productions. Those are the kinds of numbers that I think would convert prospects.

As far as knowledge, I'd be impressed if the salesperson knew the different kinds of videos (promotional, product review, testimonials, product problem-solving/hacks or instruction, etc.), how and why to use a mix of these video types, etc.

And I'd be especially impressed if the salesperson had studied other businesses like mine before the meeting, and showed me how they're using video - especially my direct competitors, but also from outside my market.

I don't think throwing a lot of "big numbers" at a local business owner is the way to go because there's no way he can translate those numbers into any idea of what it would mean for his own business.

But if you are a local plumber, auto mechanic, tow truck driver or pipe fitter, a YouTube video might not be the best choice for marketing your service.  So, what would be the best?  Yellow Pages?

Benefits of a YouTube Channel
1.    Product launches, demos, public relation communications, interviews, advertisements, tutorials, and so much more.
2.    Keyword tags in video improve your SEO ranking.
3.    Get subscribers.
4.    Credibility.
5.    Additional content.
6.    Provide information.
7.    Connect with & create the community that you want.
8.    Demonstrate expertise.
9.    Showing your brand’s personality.
10. Leveraging events or promotions.
11.Solving customer problems.

1.    Useful video explaining how much YouTubers make. The formula goes something like this: Number of views x .001375 = dollars earned.
Here is a Swedish guy who is making a lot of money on YouTube with his commentary about video games.  His channel name is PewDiePie.  His name is Felix Kjellberg.  With his videos he makes about $4 million a year
Another way to make money with YouTube video is to create videos of you, or a friend of yours, unpackaging toys.  The unpackaging feature mimics birthdays and Christmas or other holidays.  Don't have a product to unwrap?  No problem.  Go to Amazon's Best Sellers and find out which products are hot, hot, hot.  Buy two of a single item.  One to open yourself, learning what's involved in the opening of the item, and second one to use in your demonstration in the video.  If you want to find out what is really hot on Amazon in the last 24 hours, then go to "Movers & Shakers" in that Best Sellers page.

The background is created using bright colored poster board taped or glued to the table and back support.
The camera is most likely a DSLR mounted on a tripod. She probably has softbox lights positioned 90 degrees to both sides of the display to give brilliant colors and avoid shadows.
Pretty easy look to duplicate.

The following is a conversation I found on a forum.  To save you and me time and money, it is worth reading:
Just to inform everyone thinking about making surprise egg videos, that you can't buy Kinder eggs in the USA, they are illegal. It seems crazy but it's true. In order to get them you have to buy them from ebay from international sellers.

It is a lot harder to make money with toy videos than you think. There are thousands of toy review and surprise toy egg channels on YouTube. I have spent the last six months making 120 toy videos and have made some money but nothing even close to the top channels.

I don't say this to discourage you, but you should realize that it will take a lot of videos and a lot of money in toys to be successful. You have to get lots (and I mean thousands) of subscribers to your channel. That is about the only real way to ensure success. But it's easier said than done. I have a twitter account, Facebook page, and comment like crazy on other toy videos, but it's still hit and miss.

From what I can tell, the most popular videos right now seem to be blind bag and blind box figures, Shopkins videos, My little Pony videos, and superhero toys (that's what most of my videos are about).

If you have any questions feel free to ask. And if your interested here is the link to my channel. Good Luck:)

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Getting subscribers is kind of a mystery. What has worked for me is to follow people on twitter who have toy channels and people who follow those channels. I comment on a lot of different toy channel videos. I get some subscribers that way. But you have to be careful with comments because Youtube looks at meaningless comments as spam and can shut down your channel.

There are still newer channels that somehow do amazingly well very quickly, but I don't know how they do it. It's kind of like winning the lottery I guess, Someone has to win.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Thanks for checking out my channel and the compliment. The channels I have listed on my channel are ones that I have subscribed too and comment on a lot. Some of them have subscribed to me and comment on my videos. Most of the comments I get on my videos are from other toy channels. I have a feeling a good number of my views also come from other toy channels. Comments are one big factor YouTube uses to rate your videos. It's a weird cyclical community. We all watch and comment on each others videos.

When you mention advertising do you mean Google advertising or YouTube advertising? I have not tried either. I haven't really seen any other toy channel advertisements. I don't use pinterest but I do use instagram for pictures.

At the moment I am contemplating moving on to another project. Even though the videos are short it does take a good chunk out of each day to make one. That's time and money I could be investing into another project where the chance of success is determined more by me.
oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Thanks for that information. You have a great site, and I really can's see any difference in quality between your videos and the videos with millions of hits.

I live in Australia so getting the surprise eggs is not a problem, but I don't want to spend the next 6 months buying truck loads of eggs and toys and making endless videos and then find I earned hardly any money.

You have saved me a lot of money and time with your feedback and advice.
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Thanks for the compliments. I sure didn't mean to crush all your toy video hopes and dreams:) (sorry for the smiley face, I never used them before the toy videos, now I can't stop)

You definitely have an advantage being able to get a hold of the surprise eggs. If you're still curious to try it out I would get some eggs and shoot some videos. You have some pretty good ideas. If nothing comes of it at least you gained some experience setting up, shooting, and editing videos. It will help you if you ever have another video project.

If you put up some videos send me a message on YouTube. I will do a shout out video about your channel.

The three videos above are owned and created by DisneyCollector.  I want to see what her channel does more or better than other channels that unpackage and review Disney toys.  For I have seen other Disney toy channels.  I will do a few reviews and let you know what the benefits are.

Cheap, Powerful, Simple Marketing Videos

Gary North - September 24, 2014
My old friend Masha Friedman is very good in PR. She helps businessmen do better to get out their message. Her techniques apply to anyone with a message.

She write a good newsletter.

A recent one took a nice five-point list from a woman who is in video marketing: Jennifer Santoro. I find that these rules are good.

This is simple stuff. But most people are unaware of these basic rules.

1. Get to the point very quickly.

This is my third point in my five-point list: "The Five Rules of B+ Sermons in 20 words."

She says: "In the age of the "tweet," marketers have only a few seconds to capture a viewer's attention."

How many seconds? Usually, under 10. That is my estimate, not hers. She does not say.

Total video time, she says, is 60 seconds.

2. Create authentic content.

Don't fake it. Tell them what you are selling and why.

3. Make sure there are no distracting noises.

She says: "Rule of thumb: The visual can stink but the audio can't! Visually, the video can be very simple, but distracting noises in the audio will kill it every time. If you're on a budget, put your money towards a decent microphone as opposed to a fancy camera. It's amazing what you can do visually with an iPhone! However, without a proper microphone, the recording will pick up too many distracting noises. Try the Audio-Technica ATR-3350 Lavalier Omnidirectional Condenser Microphone to get started. It's affordable and compatible with an iPhone; you just need the adapter."

It is like I wrote that, right down to the microphone.

4. Make the intention of the video crystal clear.

She writes: "This goes back to No. 1 and the importance of putting serious thought into the point of the video. Too often we get distracted by special effects and features and forget that the video needs to have a clear, concise message. Before you ever pick up your audio equipment and camera, spend significant time clarifying the intention of the video and composing your script around that intention."

Basically, this is the idea of the USP: "Melts in your mouth, not in your hand.

5. Include a way for viewers to take immediate action.

This is the action step. "Internet video marketing technology has advanced significantly with the dawn of the smart video, which allows viewers to take immediate action directly from the video itself."

My view: do a video under 3 minutes. Add a pop-up (call-out) they can click that takes them to a longer video: maybe 10 minutes. The short video is a shotgun. The longer video is the rifle. Here is where the USP is spelled out. "Lead with the benefit. Follow with the proof." The longer video is for providing proof to the seriously interested viewer.

Marsha adds: "If you need help attracting real followers on social media -- people truly interested in your message -- our strategists can help. They're an experienced team with a proven track record of success. Just give us a call at 727-443-7115 ext. 208 to learn how we can help you."
